About
A practice built on listening.
I'm Margaret. I've been reading for people for twenty-two years. The last nine have been in other people's front rooms and on video; before that, a small office above a bookshop on Warren Street, with a radiator that knocked and stairs too steep for anyone with a bad knee.
I come to you, or we meet by video. Your home, your quiet, or a room of your own with the screen between us. I've sat in farmhouses in Columbia County, studio apartments in Hudson, and kitchens in three time zones. I've moved a cat off the good chair more times than I can count. I bring my own cushion because most dining chairs are too hard for an hour, and I take my shoes off at the door unless you tell me not to.
I don't need photographs, jewelry, or anything of your person's. You don't have to believe anything in particular. Most people who sit with me are carrying something they haven't found a place to put. That's enough to start.
I won't invent a message to fill a silence. If I get nothing, I'll say so. The people we've lost don't stop being part of the room. That's the work, and it's why I meet you in your home or on a screen rather than in an office.
Still With Us is just me, a paper diary, a car that knows the back roads, and a laptop for the video sessions. I keep the client list small on purpose. It's easier to be honest when I'm not rushing to the next appointment.
If you're wondering whether this is for you, read the FAQ first. For direct messages, I'm on Telegram — @ConnectStillWithUs.
Signed, Margaret
